Snow chains.

I have been getting conflicting advice about chains. On a cruiser, if
you only have one set, should you fit them to the back or the front. I
used to have a colorado and it said in the manual but I have
forgotten.
Regards, Clive.

Clive,
For the sake of tracton, in a 4wd car it doesn't make much difference,
but there are some other issues that make people join one of the two
oposing camps.
One says that putting chains on the front wheels enables you to retain
steering. The other says that putting them on the rear wheels improves
your chances of keeping fishtailing under control and avoiding damage
to the steering gear and brake hoses should the chains break or rub on
the underbody.
