Hi gang,

I go by Jay and am in the process of picking up this BJ40 in Germany: https://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=329024608

The Cruiser: BJ40LV-KCW. I believe she's a 1979, if anyone has a solid European resource to cross reference the frame number that would be most rad, with 203,000 kms on the ticker.
I have some off-road but mostly over-landing experience back in the Pacific North West of the US, but I am now living in Germany and looking for a similar overland project. This will be my first Land Cruiser and I am exited keep learning more about these splendid machines.

Respectfully,
-Jay

Hello and welcome,

I tried reading the frame number - unsuccessfully. The reason I tried is that there were a small number of European 40s that were equipped with a few extras from the factory and I wondered if this was one of them. The easy way of telling aside from the frame number is - does it have front disc brakes?
Now that might seem an odd question but they didn't become stock items until 84. And there were only around 4000 of the Euro spec trucks but if it is you may find that only the specialists parts shops have knowledge of the differences.

Put the frame number up - very hard to read in a photo.

regards,
Rodger

Gents,
@Mick W Correct: BJ4000904017. @Rodger It has drum brakes. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions. Here are some more photos and a list of the manuals I have been referencing to learn more about the vehicle: 1972-1976 98082 B Engine Repair Manual EDIC 98115, 1975-1983 FJ40 Chassis Body Repair Manual (98154), 1977 B and 2B Diesel Engine Repair Manual (98260), 1980 Land Cruiser Chassis & Body Repair Manual (38044E), 98154 chassis-body '75-'80. (All from CruiserManuals.com - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club])
Super open to any pointers from you seasoned cruiser vets.
