I am actually getting very little spam, it's just that some messages which
are definitely NOT spam are being blocked by my Spamfighter and I don't know
why, there is nothing in them that seems to be causing it.

Subject: RE: [ELCO] Spam
Using content filters is the least effective technique available. The most
effective technique is for whoever operates the mail server for your email
address to examine the incomming connection carefully and reject none
standards compliant connections, followed by rejection of un-authenticated
dynamic IP address connections, grey listing and as the last resort
content filtering. Almost all spam get's to you by the spammers looking up
the MX record for your email domain and connecting directly to the mail
server and that's the best time to deal with the problem.
Also, if you have your own domain, don't use a catch all email address so
that you get anything sent to your domain, just use specific addresses.
For a little more effort ISP's could eliminate most spam and free up a lot
of bandwidth. If more people complained to them perhaps they'd do
something about it.
By way of example, in the last 24 hour period my mail server passed 344
emails to user mail box's, 11 of which it felt were probably spam based on
content. Another 2813 emails it rejected without ever recieving the email
content because the connection was not standards compliant or was from an
un-authenticated dynamic IP address. Normally those 2813 emails would end
up in users mail box's and they're all spam.
I wonder how many more references I can make to spam before John puts me
in his spam bin ;-)
Best regards,
Jon.
