Tachometer only moves from 0 to 1000rpm (1000rpm=full accel)

Hello, newbie from Nicaragua here.

After finding the tachometer connector to the pickup sensor was damaged (and therefore, not working), I joined the wires with 3M wire connectors.

Now the tachometer needle moves, but only from 0 - 1000rpm. When its on 1000rpm, the acceleration is on its fullest.
