It seems they are short of Irony in some parts of the US hahaha
 
Now try explaining in Australia what footy is... in NSW it'll be Rugby League (NRL) VIC it's Aussie Rules, and QLD it can be either! Soccer on other hand is the same everywhere.
 
NZ definitions.Rugby is a game for hooligans played by gentlemen.Soccer is is a game for gentlemen played by hooligans.
Rugby League is a game for hooligans played by hooligans.

Yep. Even us aussies struggle with the varying football codes in our home country although Aussie Rules, (AFL) has the greatest following across the country.
