In the AG world the manual trans has apart from base models and small HP models been dead for years.....
Powershift or CVT transmissions are the norm now with clutchless FWD to Reverse shifts also the norm .
Interestingly in a way the AG world has led the way with the 9speed Koenssgieg box design and function being the norm for most powershift boxes but we normally have
19 fwd gears and 6 odd reverses .
The down side of both FPS and CVT boxes is they are power hungry and can take upto 20 hp to drive , so a 200 hp at the flywheel engine is putting out sub 180 from the PTO and that's before you subtract 6 hp for the A/C and 10 + hp loss for the big cooling fan and another 3 for the air compressor for the airbrakes
"They have tv's fitted to give the "driver" something to do though don't they ?"
Many a video out there of when watching the screen goes wrong and either a ditch or pylon get's in the way...... Guidance is a curse and a blessing .... I could mark a spot in a field and go back there in 10 years time with sub cm accuracy .... but it's boring sitting there all day long with the machine steering itself , changing gear , etc .
