Turning off the alarm aftering hooking up battery without a clicker

Hi, I have 97' Land Cruiser. I recently had my battery charged down the street at a repair shop because it was dead. When I went to hook it back in, my alarm started to go off and couldn't turn it off because I don't have a clicker. I've tried putting the key into the ignition and turning it quickly off and on 5 times. The alarm eventually stopped but anytime I took the key out of the ignition it would beep and I guess most importantly the car didn't start. I've also tried unlocking and locking the doors when the alarm has been going off but that has not worked. Any suggestions on how I can stop the alarm and get the car started? Thanks
