Hey guys, I’m new to the forum but love my cruisers. I have a 76 and 200. I’m having an issue with the 76. I ripped out a geotab go7 unit from in behind the dash and now have no rpm or speedo. The unit was spliced and soldered into wires 1 and 3 in the brown plug behind the dash. I removed them and retaped. Where have I gone wrong? Thanks guys

Looks like even the simplest Geotab 3-wire versions need a pulse or trigger source and all had a separate harness for correct install. Could there be another 'joint' that could be grounding your Alternator output signal now that it is no longer connected to your Geotab unit as I assume RPM/Speedo that is also using the Alternator output for its source.

Hmm. Well the strange thing is that it was already cut at the obd port. Before I bought it. The original white obd is still in place but another black one was put in the mount, with it wired directly into another obd port for the geotab to plug into under the dash. And this was all disconnected before I touched anything. The only thing I cut was the two wires off the brown plug. That was all that was connecting the geotab to the car. So with it still semi connected the rpm and speedo worked. But now...nothing

Have you tried reconnecting? May be if that works, tidy all wiring and leave it hidden away. Good Luck
