When is it going to arrive??

Every time the phone rings I answer it with the hope I get the news its on its way but nothing. Its was due on Tuesday and is now 3/4 days past its date and it killing me...

Andrew you are probably right but for some reason I thought it might be the same as ordering from Amazon. You place the order...not minding what colour it is (by colour I mean sex) or size so long as its healthy and then you are given a date. I dont have to have a time slot but just a date will do and like most if not all things from Amazon it arrives on time, but no it does not work like that.

And having to be at work which does not help either.

You could always tell her you have changed your mind and you want a puppy instead.....I did, just as she was lying on the operating table about to have a c section. She gave me some nasty looks but the anesthetist kep chuckling all through the procedure

It was a bit of a strange social atmosphere in the operating room as the missus is a doctor and she had worked with and had socialised with everyone in there and the obstetrician is our next door neighbour. It was more a social gathering than a baby delivery. The banter was excellent

Oh just a small tip for you. When she is in the throws of childbirth and squeezing your hand and contorting her face, either:

A, Tell her that she either looks beautiful or that she looks like she's straining for a big fart. Neither goes down well at this point.

B, When she is squeezing your hand don't tell her to stop as "its really hurting".

To update, still no arrival but we have 9:30 tomorrow as an induction date...today just a guy tomorrow a father. I still cant quite understand it but sure do look forward to the challenges ahead.

Phew it's been a long wait, Warren! My 1st child was something like 12 days overdue - the night before the induction was due, she decided to make an appearance

Good luck - enjoy the last few hours, minutes as as your life will never be the same again!

Our first daughter was around 10 days late and even then labour was 22 hours - I don't think she wanted to come out!

In the interests of scientific discovery - why not order something from Amazon and see which arrives first?

When my first lad was being born, my wife wouldn't let go of my hand, but wanted a drink which was on the window cill, just out of arms reach - spent a good hour with her yelling at me not to let go, then demanding a drink, then yelling at me not to let go etc

When my 4th, my daughter was born, the anaesthetist (C-section, all pre-planned) recognised me - his brother runs a tool hire shop and he was helping out and rented me some tools ( a pry bar, ironically), gave Sarah a shock when she asked how I knew him and I said it was from the tool hire shop where he worked....
