John,
Have you tried any of the options mentioned previously about cleaning
the runners, etc.
Whilst the motors are notoriously slow, I am starting to think that is
the damp more than the cold that makes it worse. Therefore try to find
something to clean the runners that will also help expel water - I do
suspect some of the silicone sprays like 'back to black' will do this
for you.
Ideally you need to take the window out so you can do the job properly
although you can do it with the just the window down - it is basic
mechanics so you should be able to do it yourself.
I have even considered trying to use sandpaper to smooth the edges of
the glass that runs up the runners, but suspect that might be going to
the extremes.
On the parts side of things, do try to calling Miller Off Road in the
uk (http://www.milneroffroad.com) to see if they will ship to you - if
they are willing then it might be worth saving up and putting bulk
order for consumables like filters, etc. I also think they will be
able to supply you a replacement exhaust.
