Yes its RED but I only bought It to provide an engine for one car and a gearbox for another as it was the cheapest LC I could find with a good engine and box. 30k miles in the last 13 years and always garaged (so no rust),lots of work done by the truck mechanic 2nd owner, mint original interior. OK, no air con,ABS and small brakes (all overhauled recently) but with 12 months MOT it drives like a dream, slickest manual LC box I have ever driven. It's too good to break at this stage so now, I will mainly be seen in RED!!!

Going for treatment tomorrow

Andy

Thanks Andy. I'll be round in the morning to pick it up. If you could put some fuel in it for me that'd be nice. We didn't discuss colour, I know, but I actually wanted a red one.

I'll bring biscuits.

Chris

actually, i like the Red.
sad to see you will be ... how do you bloke say it? ... going to break'r up

That looks very tidy indeed Andy  I think painting the flares medium grey sorts the red ones out ;)

Looks very smart Andy  A good find, and one to add to the collection. Judging by the history and pics, it does indeed look to have been well cared for, and have lots of life left in it. As you say, it's too good to break, so.........happy cruising.

P.S. Good luck with the treatment!

Very tidy

when she gets boroken for parts can i put my name on the gear knob please !!
Mines got a silly momo one on it

No prob Bob, but I have heard that an MR2 Knob is the same (correct me if I am wrong on this). It may be an avenue you might explore to get one quicker.

Best of luck searching

Andy

That's very nice. I wish my '95' was as tidy  .

Surely it would be criminal to break that  .

Dumb question: Petrol or diesel ? The Tach red line (4,200 rpm) indicates diesel, but it appears to have a choke . . What am I not understanding :?: .

Bob.

Hand throttle, Bob. Or as we like to call it, poor man's cruise control

Chris

The choke is the fast idle/ quick warm up mechanism. Great to use when jumpstarting Land Rovers.

Ray used it as 'cruise control' crawling up a lane in low range in the lakes once and had a real panic when as he approached a gate the 'cruise control' didn't turn off when he put the brakes on and the cruiser just kept going  Keith might remember that, I think he was in the passenger seat.

Very useful on very steel hills if you still have the original lift pump. Also works great when using a hydraulic winch.

Seems far to good to break. Surely you could put that back on the market and make a profit and buy a shed with a good engine and gearbox instead?

Or... you swap the engine and gear box for the not 100% but still adequate one that you are replacing and you sell the ..

Oops, sorry Andy. I may have just blown Operation Swapsie.

Sorrreee.

The problem is that is so clean and looked after I have put the GS away and am going to run it for a while. A few miles on this will save the miles on the GS which is only 87k which will enhance its value in the future which has a certain logic to it. I may do a bit of swapping in the future or I may drop the box out of the GS and have it attended to, after all its a nice quiet tight box just the 2nd syncro problem.
We will see but for now this is my daily driver.

Andy

Let us know what mpg you get on this 12v andy

Looks a clean truck. good buy by the look of it. shame about the cloth in them though.

karl

Yes I know what you mean about the cloth interior, however it was cheap in the scheme of things and it is very clean and original and very comfortable so I am not going to invest any time or money into it just run it. I've already brimmed it to check the mpg so I will let you know in due course but I have only done 7 miles so far. The condition of telling factors such as the steering wheel, leather gear knob and original hardly worn pedal rubbers indicate it hasn't had a hard time. Every moving part has had a regular dose of oil can and the chassis has been greased end to end, its black paint underneath which is good for a 21 year old car.

Andy

I understand Mr lomas.

The only thing i dont like is the colour of interior. Does look a clean well looked after 80 and as you said for what you want it for its fine as is.

Yet another one to keep maybe. What milage has it got on it? Wheels are in good con.
