    My diff at lincomb

Once again you're spouting nonsense Shayne. Trading standards always give fair and impartial advice, and in genuine cases of fraud or misselling bring the full weight of the law, which is never a quick process.

    Foers Ibex 250S

Nonsense. Foers take the best bits of a defender, and use them as a basis for a superb off road workhorse. The defender is more of a kitcar.

Oztent RV5 and camping bed combo.

I've had an rv 3 for the last 4/5 years.... imo a superb tent for car camping I've used it all over the UK and france, and had no issues. Pefect for daily moves, roomy enough for longer stays. I also have an ozbed i got free with a landrover mag subscription, good bed, but aldi et al have...

    Rev limiter

Good point, when I'm towing I try to keep the revs around 2000 rpm for hills ( manual 120 ).... My lorry driving grandad used to say labouring an engine is as bad as over revving.

    Is this worth getting ?

Jesus Graham, are you for real? For a start I can't see a 120 making 110 mph, secondly that's absurdly dangerous and thirdly who is going to let someone drive anything like that on a test drive?

    Service Interval

Go for the annual service, obviously numerous short runs can be more damaging than a few long runs. I service ( oil and filter) my 120 every 6 months, which is roughly 4-5k. Everything else ( diffs, fuel filter, air filter) gets done according to schedule.

tough call for crispin to make! I am a subscriber on another forum, and that gives me certain privilages (use of classifieds as a seller, hidden forums) but It's a much larger, more active forum (not car related) with thousands of members. The owner tried numerous ways to fund the site...

The Advantages of Synthetic Oils over Mineral oils

interesting read. I ve been using fully synthetic oil im my 120 for 6 monthly oil changes (4k miles ish). I've been concerned that I'm overservicing, and was toying with going to an annual change with full synth, or 6 monthly with a decent semi synth. thoughts? Does the same theory hold true...

Wales and Lakes - camping and greenlaning trip May 2013

Best campsite in lakes for laning: http://www.grizedale-camping.co.uk/?Home 2 mins from the start of the fox, great for all the south lakes lanes. Even better, the owner (Arthur) is a genuinely friendly farmer, and you're allowed camp fires. The pods and yurt's are reasonably priced, and...

    oil viscosity summer / winter

my 120's due a service.......I usually use 5w 30 fully synthetic ever 6 months:may (summer) and november (winter) due to the mileage (110k) I'm thinking of changing to 10w 40 for the summer change, my logic being the lower viscosity isn't needed in warmer temperatures, and using the 5w30 in...

    New Lindop Brothers chip kit

I've got the faffy solder to the throttle wire version, and yours is a definate improvement. It's a shame you can no longer adjust it though, I have mine on low most of the time, and get another 30 plus miles from a tank, and just turn it up for towing.

    My 150 Losing power

interesting theory, my 120 'feels' slightly down on power now and again. It's got a lindop box fitted, and i thought it might be an intermittent fault with the box/ bad connection, nothing serious though, just maybe 5/10% less power, but it could be my imagination. I might start changing the...

    Fuel consumption

you'll find that while the speedo is always out, the odometer reading will be just about spot on relative to a gps on standard tyres. I get 28/29 mpg out of a tank, steady driving and a lindop box on low. towing my 1600kg hobby caravan it's 22/23!

    Long distance run

how you finding the 120? I had a D3 3 or 4 yrs ago, 80k, fsh 1 owner (54 plate) and had noend of trouble with it. I had it four months, and got shut before the warranty expired. when it worked, it was superb, but there was no way you can have one long term, which was my plan, so i px'd it on my...

ASFIR protection fitted, no excuses anymore

God knows how long they're been in the shed, but fitted these on Sunday... I guess I'll have to take it out eventually. They came vis crispin, and were reasonably easy to fit: but I had access to a pit, and a mate who's spent 20 plus years welding / fabbing / messing about with cars!

    120 D4D injector recall

remember, if you're not covered by the recall, dont have fsh, or have any other problems getting this sorted it doesn't cost much privately. West coast did mine ( unnecessarily i may add, but i only knew that after they had been changed) for well under £200 , a small price for piece of mind.

Are they all this tail happy?

OG, I was of the same opinion about only locking the cdl when really necessary, but after a bit of reading there is a school of thought that cdl can be locked on any low grip surface: there in risk of wind up, as wheels can spin to unwind, and traction is improved due to the locked centre diff...

Are they all this tail happy?

IIRC there's 60/40 drive rear-front on my 120, 50/50 with CDL. Lock that centre diff if there's any degree of slip in the surface you're driving on accodring to this guy http://www.4xforum.com/category/who-is-4xforum/ Saying that I've just nearly swung my rear end into a lampost 'practising'...
