265/70 R17 BFG AT door clearance spacer

Had my door painted last year but haven't put the spare wheel back on the door yet.
I'd like to not rub the new paint with the spare,I think about 6mm of washers should do it.
Can anyone confirm that?

What size is your spare ?
Mine is standard 265 65 17 and when I did away with the oem Toyota stamped centre disc in favour of a stainless steel outer cover, IIRC, I used a 10mm spacer which gives adequate room.

Spaced the spare on the Collie with washers when I fitted the aftermarket wheels and 275/70 tyres.
totally satisfactory result.

Thanks TM,10mm spacers give the tyre 5mm of clearance from the paint.
