Helped a mate fit a snorkel to his Nissan Terrano today. He got it from the above seller who also do them for Toyota. Seemed like a Safari copy to me, but honestly, I really could not fault it. Very high quality build and material, fittings were excellent and it went on lovely. Plastic was good and thick and moulded well with plenty of flex. Connecting pipes were really thick rubber. All the fittings were stainless too.

Not sure if we have seen them before, but certainly worth a look. Put it this way, I'd buy one over a genuine Safari

Very local to me, just down the road. If anyone needs a hand with anything from them just shout.

I'm afraid I can't say my experience with them has been as nice. I ordered a replacement 3.5" snorkel head via their eBay shop

This is the link to the same product

Now, look very carefully at the picture of the listing and note it comes with the usual screw on grill you would expect.

This is what I actually got

I have mailed them back via eBay asking for a full refund as it is not as described and certainly not fit for purpose. It didn't survive being posted let alone taking the odd knock or two when out driving. The quality is so poor that I'm staggered.

They may well have just covered it in chocolate and sold it as a bloody Easter Egg with that split mould method of manufacture, truly diabolical.

Shocking and not at all what I saw. Terrain do replacement heads for Safari and they do the big doughnut style ones too.

Chris

was it just the grill or the whole head you needed Trevor? If just the grill why not make one? I had to make one for my green 80 after I drove over the head one to many times :)

Originally I just needed a grill after losing it at Lincomb, but I had a woopsie moment with a tree last month and smashed the head into pieces when it pinged off the body so new head is now needed.

Not a Safari head then? They squash and then bounce more or less back into shape, same as the rest of the snorkel ... The one on my old 80 took a lot of abuse and the grill was the only thing to break after I'd driven over it a few times.

Mine is an Ironman, I was pushing through some woods and hadn't noticed it was caught up on a tree branch and I kept moving forwards, something had to give and it wasn't the tree.

Can't find the Terrain company Chris mentioned.

I did similar, pulled the A pillar mount off mine and bent it double, head stayed in one piece, snorkel sprang back into shape. I fixed to the A pillar more securely and left the head loose so it could swivel or pull off, meant to put a chain on it to catch it but never did. Crushing or bending the top over at crazy angles happened a lot, as did running over the head when it fell off  the grill cracked and I made a crude steel replacement, had to keep bending it back into shape though  I forget who had the snorkel when I broke the 80 but it was still in good working order after 8 or so years of abuse, maybe slightly deformed if you held it against a new one

The cosmetic copies are ok if you want the look !

But you won't appreciate the quality until you actually use them on expedition conditions and seen how rugged they are.

None of the exped company vehicles use copy gear and they all fit quality, that is with good reason.

You can choose what suits you, but don't expect the same performance from half price products.

I don't disagree, my particular beef in this instance is what was shipped is not what is shown on the listing. This is a copy paste statement from the listing

"We specialise in the supply of Expedition equipment and 4x4 accessories. We proud ourselves on the quality of our products and our exceptional customer service"

Appreciate there are various degrees of quality but as a purchaser especially on line you go by the description and picture and seek reassurances from statements such as above. In fairness, the customer service bit has been very good so far in dealing with my complaint but trying to sell tat that is misrepresented is bad form.

Trevor,

I agree with you, that is poor form.

But you need to know the quality of what you are buying before you start drilling big holes in your pride and joy.

Engine repairs are silly prices for water ingress and worst of all could spoil a well planned adventure. Just to save the price of a couple of tanks of diesel.

I keep saying make informed choices.
