Hello there.
I recently purchased a 1988 Land Cruiser.
I have just come back to Alice Springs from a trip across the Simpson Desert in the the Northern Territory Australia.
The vehicle took all the sand dunes in its stride in second gear low ratio. However when idling down the dunes in third low the transfer case would jump out of gear back to neutral.
I found that if I held the selector lever it did not jump out of gear.
Just wondering if any one else has experienced this problem and if there is a solution.
Regards Stephen Humphrys

Hi Stephen, In the right side of the transfer box is a big screw. Under that screw is a spring and one metal ball. This device block the transfer box shaft in a fix position. Maybe screw is not so tide or the spring is old and lost the elasticity. 60gearbox.JPG
