New short block, and head with the following changes: EGR blocked off, top mount intercooler. The old engine had a cracked #4 cylinder wall.

Everything was tripled checked and probably looked over the timing marks on all the timing gears about ten times over. Timing belt marks all good.

So, with a new battery, I proceeded to prime the injectors with the high pressure lines open to bleed the air out. After several attempts at starting, it sputtered. I waited as I am cautious about not burning out the starter or battery.
It started, quite a bit rough as the video shows.... Any thoughts???

Before my engine blew last year, I did have some hard starting issues even in warm weather. Could this possibly be the notorious SPILL VALVE??

From memory i'm inclined to think i had to move a sensor from the intake into the intercooler when i added one to my 1kz-te which may or may not have something to do with it ?

A non return valve in the fuel line might be worth a try .

You can adjust the spill control valve . theres a steel cap similar to the cap on your tyre valve which pulls off with pliers to reveal an adjustment screw held in place by a locknut .

On reflection if this is a morning thing or after the truck has been unused for hours and it starts fine when you stop to pop into a shop or something then the number one suspect is steel piping coming off your fuel tank rusted through letting air into the line .

Rarer and much harder to diagnose is a failed primer housing letting air in . I suspected that problem once and just lashed a load of silicone oil spray on the plunger because that stuff softens/rejuvenates dried out rubber and i guess it worked because I'd forgot about the problem since .
