Acceleration problems 1HDFT

Recently I noticed when I'm accelerating hard in 2nd gear around 2700-3100 rpm (also in 3rd but not so much) its gets realy jerky (moments when I lose power then power again), looks like I'm not getting enough fuel/boost?
Where do I start to look?

After the fuel pick up look for air leaks in particular from the diaphragm on top of the filter where it is used to bleed air after a filter change, they crack and let air in. Fitting a clear tube (compatible with diesel) between the filter head and pump, air if getting into the system it will show up there, as an aside look at the small leak off tubes that run between the injectors and feed back into the pump.
