The decision was made to take mothers colorado off the road as the chassis had split and had broke 3 mounts off the axle all within 6 months. So what turned in to, we'll repair the chassis and get a new back axle has now turned in to this. One way to cure the isolation boredom. If anyone has any front wings can they let us know ta

And you wonder why there are so few Collies left on the road. Still if you've got plenty of time and you love welding....

I know Andy it's a shame, but we'd come to the conclusion of either spend a couple of grand on a new car and it be poor or spend the money on this and make it a good un!

Sometimes its better the Devil you know. I can't ever see me having another one, much as I like them as I'd never find another as good as the ones I had, especially the V6 one. The black one had just started a rust scab on the bonnet where they all start to go and Toyota said they were no longer available and that was one of the contributing factors for me letting it go.
I've looked at a few ( D4D's) since as I was very impressed with mine but they all looked like your mums underneath. I was interested in a blue one with a new axle ( member on here) via FB but he blocked me for some reason and so I've lost interest in that one.

Those tyres look a bit familiar

When they start letting go, There's no stopping 'em'. Looks like you got a decent workshop to be doing it in..Good luck Josh, Maybe another one saved from the Breakers...

Good luck mate great project. Thanks for the pictures never seen a 95 lifted off the chassis like this.

Sad that that's the way in the UK. Usually see several a day on my 10km commute and know of a few around the streets I live. The Prado is probably the most common 4WD here however these days most are 120 and 150s.

Its not as involved as we thought it would be, fuel tank had to come off and the engine and body plugs were straightforward. Cut all the body mount bolts off as there was nothing left. Difficult bit was finding something solid enough to lift the body..... Better get the steel supplier on speed dial!

Those tyres have been howling down the road for the past year or so! Think we'll treat it to some new ones once the resto is done ha

When i bought my old Colorado it was shocking underneath, The only reason i decided to save it was because the Engine /Box and running gear were so good.... They are worth saving Josh.. They are an incredibly good Truck IMO,...They have always had to fight off the reputation of the 80..

Google images gets results for kzj95 panels . onlinecarparts.co.uk is showing new wings but i can't access the website ?

Honestly the UK ones seem to rust way more than they do on our side of the water. Even the farmers ones survive better than that. Glad you're saving it though

yep ours has only done 130 thousand, dad did the head on it a couple of years ago but other than that had no mechanical issues in 10 years. He bought it dirt cheap back then so it doesn't owe him anything, he said he'd rather spend the money on getting this right than buying a newer bag of sh*t. If we can't get hold of any second hand wings i reckon we'll repair what we've got, you can't see any of the repair as it's hidden behind the plastic trim.

Dad has been very busy on this over the last few weeks, he's welded up all the body apart from the front wings. Half of the chassis is done, waiting for the lower trailing arm mounts which were ordered from amayama. Big orders going in with milner and roughtrax this week. More to come
