Hi Alan,
The breather cap on the gearbox can be accessed by taking out centre the
console and unscrewing the plates around the main gearstick. Take the
gearstick out with the rubbers etc..
You will see it then below the circle and should be able to pull out it
like a tooth .
Not sure about the transfer I am afraid???
If I remember correctly the bend is quite tight, hopefully the hose you use
will flex enough.
Are you sure it's not leaking around the seal of diff? This tends to land on
the prop and spray all underneath the back of the car from one of my
experiences ;-).
Martin.

Subject: [ELCO] Axle breathers
Just to re-iterate the importance of axle breathers.
Mine were not done and I have attended a few pay and play sites, running
through some deep water/mud/sand puddles.
Well the breather pipe on my rear axle must have sucked some muddy water in
at some stage and blocked the pipe up.
After going on a long run to collect some tyres from Bristol, I was
returning down the A34 south of Newbury and found that the rear axle smelt
hot?. I pulled over to check it out and found that the axle must have heated
up and frothed the oil so much that it had actually blown the pipe off of
the axle and spread LSD oil all over the bottom of the car.
So Saturday will be spent extending the pipework up into the car so it won't
happen again.
Anyone tell me if the KZJ70 (1993 vintage) with 3.0TD (1KZT Engine) has
gearbox and /or Transfer case breathers? And if so how do I go about
accessing them?
Many thanks
Alan
