Hi guys & girls,

Big Red me old 60 has a little play on front wheel not had chance to inspect properly but from quick look think it's the top & bottom bearing on the swivel housing so if I'm stripping it down may as well do the wheel bearings and seals while apart. Any advice on where to buy from and any to avoid.

Mike.

Hi Mike,

For bearings Id only fit KOYO which is what Toyota would have fitted originally.

Both Milner and Roughtrax sell bearings, but check with them that they are definitely KOYO. So I'd call them rather than ordering online.

As for seals I'd only fit genuine.

Every seal I've fitted from Milner has failed prematurely.

You could try your local Toyota dealer for the seals, but I'd give Simon Holton a shout. I've used him many times as have lots of other club members and the service is great and hes always been cheaper than my local main dealer. :icon-biggrin:

Thanks again

Mike.

Bought oil seals from Milner with other parts - they were leaky from the start - won't buy another from them.

Why do they insist on selling crap? - had no problem with their other parts.

Its not just oil seals unfortunately.

Brake discs are terrible, as are all the studs they sell. I've had wheel studs and the studs that attach the free wheel hubs and I've not been impressed with the quality.

I guess some of the stuff they sell is cheap crap because that way they can keep there prices low.

Maybe they don't realize how much hassle it causes people and how much damage it does to there reputation. :?

Koyo are a quality Japanese manufacturer but like many others, they make bearings to standard sizes that are recognised world wide. Each bearing is stamped with it's own makers reference but a commercial bearing stockist will be able to cross ref. them and supply a suitable quality product. Remember that Europe and America use bearings that are locally produced. All you need is the ref. no. or the size and they can help you and at prices that make the Toyota products look sick.
