Using the VIN, I've discovered an amazing amount of information about my 105 Series Landcruiser.

What I don't yet know is what the original tire size was for the vehicle. It's my understanding that the rims/wheels are *not* the same as the 100 Series.

Does anyone know the original size?

And can anyone tell me what alternative sizes might be acceptable? (We don't seem to have many good options for larger tires here in N. Africa.)

Thanks!

Hi
I used to own a 2003 gxl HZJ105.
It had 16 x 8 Steel Gxl Wheel. I had a 2 inch lift Kit fitted to it and the tyres that i was running on it were 285/75/16 BFG AT. Imperial size they were known as 33 inch tyres.

These Wheels were standard on the Gxl. They were a very popular Rim for trailer use as well.:icon-cool:

Thanks, Beno. I'm understanding that you used that size. Do you know, was that the original size?

All 80 and 100 series came with 31" tyres. Keeping to 16" rims, 100s with 275/70R16 on 8" wide rims in most markets, but could also be had with 16x6.5" or 16x6" rims, with 235/80R16 or 7.5-16 tyres.

See this list for the hzj105:

I have a 105 and the tyre size is 275/70/16. People have put 285,s on, but they make the steering very floaty. I know the size cause i have just ordered new BFG,s for my truck and they are the size i said.
