Hi guys,
My 80 series is coming near to being joined together again and soon for road fingers crossed , just have to get a body mount kit and a few bits , just wondering what would be a good chunky size tyre to use, I have sources a set of 15”rims that aren’t what I want but will do until I see something nicer. Just wondering what tires are ye running, I am fitting a 2” ome lift kit and I want to put on k02’s. I’m not gone on the rims but they will do for now. Thanks

What year is it ?

I think 15's only fit very early model 80's .

285/75 OR 305/70 are two common choices .

She is a 91. There is the older 4 spoke wheels on it at the min, think they are 15s but really don’t like them!

Class lookin rig . Hopefully some day I might get mine to that spec!

Cheers, its solid and most things work, air con, both diff locks, etc. Photos flatter though, its had numerous repairs to the bodywork and there are areas of filler where its been dinted in the past. That said, its the second best one I've owned.

I’ve got a few sets of 16”wheels for the 80 for sale, 1 set of 4 oem wheels, 1 set of 5 and 1 set of 4 jap import 5 spokes. The set of 5 wheels is fairly decent but the other 2 sets would need a refurb!

Ya I’m on my first one and am in the middle of a body off ground up build, chassis has been repaired and is ready for blasting, body has had the sills repaired arches repaired, inner front wings and 2 new wings, all welded no filler so far! I sometimes think Shit this isn’t worth it or what am I doing until I start up the engine and Rev it, then all is forgotten!!

I'm with Andy - stock 16s, we colour coded them, with 285/75/16s - stance is good and the truck handles well. My 80 came on 305/75/16s, I think - they were too wide and the truck handled weird. Also 285/75/16s are a common Landy size, so easy to source in the UK/Ireland.

Do you have the wheels advertised somewhere so I could see them by any chance jake?

I agree Tony cool looking wheels them so i wouldn't care about 15" if the width and offset was right . And tyre size of course .

I've got either stock wheels or some 8 x16 steels with a 30mm off set so they fill the arches better..... both run 285/75/16 BFG AT K02's
I would like some 9x16's with a 25mm offset as for my liking the 285's could do with being stretched to the 9 inch rim.... but 9x16s seem rare in Jap 6 stud

I would stick with 16" rims which allow the bigger brakes, and if I never had to fight the insurance companies here in Spain to allow for a larger tyre I would go with a BFG 285/75/16, only because I think the BFG wear better than the Toyo's I have on there now. I prefer practicality to looks when in the middle of nowhere.

Regards

Dave
