Black smoke when accelerating, bumper starting to turn black above tail pipe and fumes from oil filler and dipstick when warm. Checked when cold and first started and no smoke from oil filler or dipstick. However after a run and warmed up there is a lot of fumes from both the dipstick and the oil filler. Can the injector washers if leaking allow combustion gases into the rocker cover and crankcase system?

Egr, Intake mani and throttle body I cleaned fully 3000 miles ago and oil pick-up was clean too.

I also had to top it up by a litre of oil after about 3000 miles. I'm monitoring the oil level now too more accurately to see if it's burning it. The exhaust is dry black soot, not oily soot. What else can cause black smoke on acceleration and on steep hills?

Usual thinking is black smoke = overfuelling/unburnt diesel and blueish smoke is burning oil.
A blocked crankcase breather can cause high oil usage and force venting through the dipstick and oil filler.

+1 on all of the above particularly overfuelling…… have you replaced the air filter, may be a bit clogged? Simple cheap options first!
