I have got some chromed steel wheels that have been tarnished with
brake dust. My fault for not cleaning them weekly as they are
usually. (I regularly use polish and then silicone wax to keep them
gleaming. The last waxing would have been about October).
Washing in strong detergent has not done the usual trick. Normally my
next move would be to take them off and apply one of a range of metal
polishes that I have to hand. But short of buying a specific wheel
cleaning chemical, does anyone have a good idea for using a more
normal DIY product that most of us have around the workshop, before I
apply a light polish and wax. Like Kim and Aggie on their TV show use
lemon and vinegar in quantity with similar effect to expensive cleaner. TIA.
Cheers
