brake pads and size

Hi all,
Don't forget the brake pipes too.
I changed all the (old and perishing) flexible pipes for the reinforced
braided variety, and was surprised at the improvement in braking.
I guess stronger pipes expand less when you apply pressure. I don't know
whether this means less lost energy, or whether it just improves "feel" as
the pedal will travel less and feel harder. Either way, I was pleased with
the result and stopped complaining about the brakes for a while.
Still very easy to get standard Toyota pads smoking though, every time |
drive from Buxton to Macclesfield I get bad brake fade and smoke by the time
I get home.
Cheers,

Hardly surprising Andy
I learnt to ride a motorcycle on that road long before the law took it over.
I used to get my GSX1100ES tyres red hot on there.

Hi Les,
Likewise, I'm also an (ex-) biker :)
I once went across it in the winter on a Honda XL600. I was the last vehicle
across before it was closed due to heavy snow. By the time I got to the Cat
and Fiddle you couldn't see the shape of the road anymore, just had to aim
between the poles. Probably the most arduous journey i've ever done.
Great road before the helicopters came....
