Hi I am new to this club. Can anyone tell me is there are any problems with replacing my 18 inch wheels on 2004 amazon with 16 inch wheels from a 1998 land cruiser. cheers
Injun - I have 16 inch GX 5 stud wheels on my 100. There are various pictures on my build thread - look for hedgehog in the overland section. I am running 285/75s and no spacers.
An important issue when changing rim size is to make sure the new tyre size maintains the same running distance and hence keeping the speedo accurate. For example my 285 60 18 wheels need to replaced by 285 70 16 so the speedo still reads 70mph when you are doing 70mph. There are calculators onj the internet that will work it out for you.
Injun - when I run 285/75R16s they do add a few miles per hour......so this means that as most speedos read low by 3 or 4 miles per hour on OEM tyres, when you run 285/75R16 you will find that the speedo will read true. Against my GPS my speedo indicated speed and my actual speed are about 1 mph difference at 70mph
