Hi guys ...
can anyone explain how this works please

follow the instructions on the stalk.Just remember to switch it on 1st.

I had a BMW Cruise Control (on a bike - but I believe the cars were the same).

When switching it on a light came on - on the dash.

I then had the option of 'SETting' it to the speed I was doing or 'RESuming' the speed I had previously set.

Once under way I could adjust the cruise speed up or down in 1 mph increments.

Touching the brakes, clutch or closing the throttle disengaged it.

Turning off the ignition removed the settings.

I wouldn't work below 30mph or above 100mph (on a 155mph bike . . spoilsports  ).

From the legends on the stalk it looks as though the Toyota system is similar.

Try it out - but don't accidently 'RESume' an 85mph cruising speed in a 40 limit

Cheers Bob .. thats great

Push the end of the stalk in. That switches CC on. When you get to desired speed, flick the lever down. That sets it. Push it up and it adds 1mph. Flick it down takes 1mph off. Pull it and it cancels the setting. Push it up again, returns the setting. Only works once you reach about 30mph

I assume its disengaged when the brakes are touched . . Is that correct ??

(My daughters' RAV4s both have cruise control. I don't think they have ever used it, I must ask  ).

Yes Bob,
A dab ofthe brakes knocks off the cruise setting, and also forgets the speed it was set to cruise at.
Dabing the brakes, doesn't switch cruise off, it just disengages it.

Also if going up a steep hill, while towing for example, and the cruise can not maintaint the speed you have asked for, then as the engine starts to labour, this will firstly, drop a gear if auto, then if still can not maintain the desired speed, then the cruise control will kick itself off.
