D4D Denso pump replacement

Hi - I'm suffering low fuel pressure (diagnosed) I've found swarf and filings in my SCV ports on my Denso D4D diesel pump and I'm presuming this is indicative of a catastrophic failure and I'm planing to replace the pump. I have sources a second hand unit with some guarentee so I'm prepared to give it a shot ... am I right in thinking there's no timing involved with these pumps when I come to fit it as they are a constant velocity pump rather than the old timed injection ??

They have a timing belt (with tensioner) change this while you're at it and yes, they are timed....and i would like to know why myself!!

Hi - they are timed but not as you would expect - I have it all in my head if anyone wants to know about replacing a supply pump.
