My friend did loads of research on these systems. He is also doesn't like spending money. He came to the conclusion you can't get a good reliable system for less than £200. That's one camera, card and screen.

I was reading a little more about hiding the red glow from IR lights. It sounds like you can just put an IR filter over the top which will stop the human visible light but still allow the IR through.

I was looking at that, will be interesting to see how you get on.

Saw one once with dual camera, recorded split image front and rear (not occupants) can't find details though.
