Door Mirror

Hi - Broke my glass on the LC Colorado drivers mirror, need to replace, bought one with backing plate and informed it was for a Colorado but more like for a Amazon, to large.
Any one ever had to take the mirror off with the backing plate or can it be done, if so what would be the procedure. If not it looks like either a replacement glass to stick on or complete mirror.
Thanks for any advice.

My 80 has a very thin plastic frame that holds the glass, and it's a bit tricky getting a new glass in without breaking it.

If yours is similar, then do it with care, it does go in eventually!
