ELCO Forum - ABS Operation at slow speed?

I believe at very low speeds the ABS is disabled, stops things like applying
full lock in the car park operating the ABS because of the speed difference.
How slow were you going when it "pulsed"? Also how do the speed sensors
work, ie what type are they, some inductive pickup and the like have a
higher output at high speeds, at lower speeds the output might be marginal,
particularly if the sensor has been knocked or is starting to fail.
My thinking is ABS it is quite likely to affect only one wheel, particularly
if the scenario above is right, it will see one wheel as not turning and
apply the release the pressure on that side before re applying it. The pull
to the right might be the RHS side acting alone or the reapplication of the
RHS after the ABS removes the pressure. I am assuming the ABS doesn't wait
for the speed pulses to start again, just removes and reapplies the
pressure, assuming the wheel will be moving again, I think that is how they
keep the system fail safe.

I have had a slight problem with my brakes too, When coming to a halt after
slow moving (in a traffic jam), at the last moment, just as the Cruiser
comes to a halt I get a very slight pulse, just one, from the pedal and the
brakes pull to the right, this ONLY happens after slow movement NEVER when
driving faster.
I assume it is something to do with the ABS but why does it only seem to
effect one wheel, I would have thought it would effect the whole braking
system?

Hi Malcolm,
Probably about 1mph it was literally just before coming to a halt, it is
quite possible that the sensor has been damaged whilst off-roading.
Thanks everyone for your inputs, things have got a bit clearer now.
