Hi All,

I remember reading a while ago, about this place that experimented with electric forced air.

I have found this
intake blower fan at 21115 rpm

It seems to act like a turbo ?

Does it work?

Hi Gra

I might be wrong but don't Mercs use electrical fan type superchargers in some of their models?

(not read the link yet!!)

400W is bugger all when it comes to forced induction so will just cause a restriction. You need tens of kW to compress an adequate flowrate of air to 1 Bar and above...

I worked with a guy who experimented with electric superchargers, he used to call those things like the one you linked "idiot tax"!

As Rob says you need an awful lot of power to get decent compression and flow rate, the guy I knew came to the conclusion that is was possible to do but with very little gains as you would need to install a massive generator/alternator on the engine to run it and the drag from this would likely negate any power increase from the supercharger.
