Wasn't there a farmer in Cumbria that did the same thing when the M6 was built?

Don't know about the M6 one, but there was a program on the telly not so long back and there is a farm between 6 lanes of the M62 that is always rumored to be there due to stubborn owners, but in fact they actually built the motorway around it due to the geology

Mind you at least they built the motorway smoothly around those ones. I'd be very worried about driving on those Chinese motorways as the buildings make the roads look like an obstacle course
