That’s a shame. I’d have bought a 1HD if I’d had found one. I could only find a couple of Troopies for sale in SA at all.

Mine doesn’t have rear discs or lockers. Nor a rear wiper but it does have electric windows and a factory winch. And of course the Middle East fake wood bling :nomouth:

I shall fit a rear elocker.

Maybe go via the ombudsman too? The more people that do that, the more chance they'll need to take action? Just a thought...
Yes I will write to the Minister in charge of the DVLA… not that it will achieve anything but as you say if you don’t then they can continue to pretend they are not a complete shower of an organisation…. What happened to “civil servants”… they are neither

And I now have a comfy drivers seat installed ( the pic was a trail fit before the frame was finished off nicely).

Yes you’re thinking it’s tan and the one I rebuilt and recovered was grey… Well a pair of BMW sports seats came up on eBay locally for £35 so I took them giving me options. The other is still rusty and missing buts but a good option as it sits lower. That might still go in as I can only just reach the clutch but these are in good condition.

For now the double OE will stay on the passenger side for Zero to use.

Seat install finished, new bases painted and covers fitted (from Aldi! But Australia only).

Then a quick check to see that my chains fit OK before ordering a second pair as I can once again run a full set. Not as good as the ones I had for Alaska which were full basket but still good quality HD chains.

Nice. BTW looping buggy cords around the chains helps to keep everything taught and reduces the risk of a thrown chain - super cheap insurance policy. Discovered that one doing the French comp stuff in the Alps.

I’ve never had an issue with chains and have driven many miles and terrrains inc the French events, Alaska, Colorado etc. But good tip, especially for lighter chains like the Rudmatics Etc

I have a set of chains in storage, not made eye contact with them for maybe 11 years now. Suspect they are more rust and less metal at this point!

Even new they’ll rust up on first use…nothing much you can do about that.

More progress…

Snorkel is now connected to the air box. Calorifier is connected to the heater pipes so I have ‘free’ hot water on board.

The side steps have been removed, primed and painted with Raptor so keeping with the black and white colour flow.

And Pete has done a great job making me a rear bumper and wheel carrier. Winch tray incorporated for self recovery. Only in zinc oxide at the moment, need warmer temps for painting…
