Group buy - 80 series rear tailgate decks in stainless or aluminuim

For the life of me a I can't think why.

£69 basic plate + £67 for locks gets you to £136, plus hinges, plus making the enclosures etc, forming the stainless fog light guard all for £54. You could just buy the basic plate and get someone else to make all the rest up cheaper I guess.

I find £67 for two locks is just a bit extreme no matter what quality they are, I presume they're not gold plated. And as you pointed out earlier Chris there actually isn't an 'enclosure' it's just a hole (OK two holes) in the plate with a lid and lock.
I will have one for no more than £200 just to have a nice finish on the boot lid not because it's been hyped up!

Sorry it took so long to post, but I thought Chris would have had a melt down if I left him to copy/paste for me again...

Nope sorry. Two versions only. Flat or with twin cubby. Third option will be for 100 series version. Eventually.

Wagongear do a non fog light version But something like $700 Aus. Plus you'd need to import one. You can always still go for the plain version though. Always a nice finishing touch to the rear tail gate.

Thank you Jon, a welcome order. We're so close now, just need to nudge a couple of folks to confirm or back out. We're close with the order for cubby versions.

I can confirm that I would now like a cubby version. Could somebody please update the list as I'm still in hospital.

Cheers

Richard

Sorry to throw a spanner into the works. I'm out.

No problem Karl. Being clear is all I was ever after. You signed up to being interested not to a firm commitment to buy.

You'll kick yourself later though

Been pondering over it and as I said to you the other day i had been trying to get something done like this myself as a business venture, but got nowhere.
Your prob right mate. I suppose once I see one I'd wish I'd had gone with it. Decided 100% I wasn't cutting the new truck tailgate and defo didn't want just a flat plate. So that left me with wanting one. Just not quite for me with the size of the openings and the cost scares me lol. You know I'm a tight sod when it comes to add on bits for my person truck:icon-cry:

Having 2 smaller openings seems like a better idea than one big one to me, because you can still have stuff on part of the tailgate while you rummage in one of the cubbies. It's only the openings that are smaller, the storage potential of the tailgate is still the same size :shifty:

I think I'm on the list twice, 7 and 18 as I only have one 80 that's a bit excessive. Could somebody scrub the non cubby one please.

I hear you Jon. For me though let's say ratchet straps.I roll mine up and I doubt I would get one in there. Ill have a gander at the ones bought at lincomb.

There is another difference across tailgates I believe. The UK ones have a large recessed area for the number plates. This actually rules out the Wagongear type arrangement. Not really looked today, but I do know that some of the foreign ones cut out a huge hole and it's flat in the bottom. Well we can't do that unless we can import tailgates. The room though in the ends is pretty good and useful. I have had a delve in there today whilst repairing mine after an off road indiscretion recently.

Richard, hope you OK. Get out of there as soon as you can. Hospital is not a good place to be.
