Hi there, I will try keep this story short:

Bought a kzj70 for too much money (7k) and the engine was already shot, little did I know. (New to spannering) so eventually haul it home on a trailer and buy another engine.
Swap new engine in, but discover it has a seized head so there’s another new head on top of replacement engine, (£1400 added to list) Get engine running, go for MOT and handbrake nonexistent so brakes etc all fail.
Order whole new discs, pads, callipers, shoes etc, (£600) go to replace bearings the lot and find a swivel hub is totally warped and won’t take a new straight calliper. Being cast I’ve been advised to not hammer straight since then could just pass problem onto discs. Let alone crack the cast housing anyhow.

So now I’m left looking for a new front left swivel hub housing or even a whole front axle since that would solve further problems of the play in the bearing on front diff.
Thanks for reading this far. This was the last of my recently passed fathers money and it’s tied into the truck. I’d hate to lose that connection.
Hope someone has any idea/friends with parts sitting around. Would love to get this baby on the road thus not just part it out and start again.

Good luck with it Max , you will find a helpful lot on this forum though its been a bit quiet of late , lockdown no travel blues I suppose , but keep us updated and we all love pics

What a horror story, that's painful to hear.

Here's another possibility, £146 but shipping costs, taxes and duty are all to go on top.

(Sorry about this - something wrong with copying the link, it's gone dead - copy and paste it into the top bar

Thanks for the axle link too Shayne!!

Karl, let me know about the hub otherwise it’s a import duty and then some.
Again big thanks all

I've not incurred any import duty charges when ordering parts from france recently. its been a piece of cake.

if ordering a whole new axle check the diff code. there are lower and higher diff ratios out there and instinct tells me front and rear axles need ratios that match.

good luck. it'll be worth the trouble

Hi All, heres a little update. Got a new swivel hub from France but turns out they had to order one from Japan anyhow. Came out more expensive than just brought through local Toyota dealers.. typical. But here are some pics of the process!

Now to just fit new rear shoes, and handbrake cable then hopefully it will pass the MOT!

Cheers for all the help.
P.a any useful links to refurbing/replacing brake shoes and handbrake tensioning/replace.

Many many thanks!
Max
