I have been lusting after an 80 for many years. Not being in the best of health it is on my "bucket list" . I have traveled many miles up and down to view various sheds. I now believe I have found THE ONE. A price has been agreed subject to viewing and road test. The seller was not taking me seriously until I told him I would be flying from Leeds Bradford to Heathrow to view. ( only £50.00 !!! ) and I was not coming down to kick tyres.

I told the wife and she said "I won't stop you I'll just be impossible to live with". I took that as a yes as I don't think I would notice:icon-biggrin: . Anyway I am a trained old fashioned mechanic I use the term old fashioned as I haven't got a clue what happens under the bonnet after around 2000 this common rail stuff does nothing for me.

I go down this Friday the 12th and hope to be driving it back.

Cheers, Bob

Looks good Bob, just remember to look at all the possible points for body corrosion, a little rust on the major components underneath is nothing to worry about. Engine shouldn't be breathing after a test drive, auto box should be smooth and no clunks from the transmission> IIRC had it done around 190K miles?
I have had one same colour as that for 16 years and its still a good looking colour scheme.
(I'm just off J31 M1 if you want to call in on the way back)

Yes 194k recently had full front axel rebuild two new Bosch batteries new set of BF Goodrich tyres cam belt blah blah. It's a full leather 8 seater allegedly got bills going way back from Toyota specialists . If it's half as good as described I will be driving it back slowly as no history of BEBs being done:shock:.

One struck off the bucket list, it appears!

Hi Andy.

Thanks for the invite but I think I'm going to be a bit pushed for time . If you PM me your contact details I'll see if it's possible.

Ahh, we've been watching that one. Looked very tidy. Same as mine without the dents. Welcome along.

Shooting bits, eh? One or two of us indulge in that as well.

Sorry to hear about your health. But you should perk up a bit owning one of these. They make you smile.

Yep all set:icon-biggrin:. 9.30 take off . I got a days fully comp insurance for £23.00 didn't think that was bad. No piont in paying for longer if I'm going to walk away....... hope not though.

Bob

Where are you viewing it bob, your sort of around my neck of the woods if your landing at heathrow.

Hope all goes to plan and you enjoy the drive home.

When I got mine I left home at 6:30am for the train to Scotland and arrived back home after midnight still smiling, was a long tiring day but the drive home was great.

Got it!!!! He came with a fistful of history the first one that hit me was the £1850.00 front axel rebuild from Land Cruisers Overland second was the £730.00 for a set of BF Tyres, full modded axel breathers the lot apart from no BEBs . Service history ( some Toyota ) going back to 2003 . So I will be getting in touch with Karl regarding the bearings.

There is also a diff pinion bearing whine with power on ( none on over run ) at 55 60 MPH. As the front one has been done I'm assuming it's the rear. Does the nose bearing take the load on drive ( can't remember) and if so can it be change without taking the diff out ?? Or is it diff out to do the inner ?? What they like to do can't find any pics on here to do with the rear diff's .

Bob

Congrats on your purchase, it looks and sounds a good one.

Enjoy!
