So I'm brand new to Cruisers - just got my first ['88 FJ62] last week.
The horn isn't working and I'm at a dead end as far as knowing what to do next. Here's what I've done so far:
• Haz/Horn fuse is good. Hazards are working fine, fuse isn't blown.
• I removed the steering wheel cover [see pic] and cleaned contacts under the two tabs on either side of the wheel.
• I checked that the wiring was connected/in good shape at both horns behind the front grill.
I've read a number of threads about replacing worn horn pins but - from what I can tell - mine doesn't use a pin but rather two metal "tabs" [not sure what the actual part is called] that make contact, completing the circuit, when the steering wheel is depressed.
I've also read a post or two about horn relays, but I'm unsure if my '88 FJ62 has one and where it's located.
Should I check that next? Am I way off in my diagnosis?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
