I just got back from a 2 week road trip in the US. I wont bore with the details of my trip but there is one thing that if any of you find yourselves in Vegas you have to do - Drive one of these:

It's basically a 2wd Rear engine truggy with a 4.0 V6, Dual shocks per wheel (King coil over and a Triple bypass King shock per wheel) all round with 24" of wheel travel!

I did a 4hr stint on some high speed desert trails and a few laps on their track, even got airborne a few times. The company is called VORE - http://www.vore.com

This is a video i found on youtube about them:

I gotta say it was an insane experience. The guys that run it are very cool, we were straight into the cars after a 20min brief. This was by far the highlight of my trip, oh ya the helicopter trip over the grand canyon was kinda cool too.

Never actually been to Vegas, but there might just be a reason to go now.

What was the cost for your 4 hours?

Gra.

Did you have to get your kit off to do that? Thought from recent news articles that doing that was de rigeur in Vegas? I was hoping I wasn't going to be 'exposed' to those sorts of pics...

Sounds like good fun though. The car bit, not the kit off bit. Oh - wait !!

I'll get my coat. I think.

I was a little sceptical about Vegas as I'm not into the whole gambling thing and thought I might get bored. Swambo is happy as long as she can shop. So I started looking into what else there is to do and came across these guys. You can also go rock crawling with fully kitted out jeeps, so it seems adventure type stuff is definitely available there.

The days driving set me back $599 (£375). Not cheap but when you look at the actual driving time compared to the driving experiences you get here in the UK I thought it was actually pretty good value. they are after all $160k worth of truck!

No, but I'm sure if you ask nice...

It seems, from what the guy told me at VORE, that if you have enough cash to burn you really can do anything there. The day before they had a group do a morning driving session and then after a BBQ, as they call it, they blew up cars with a .50 calibre machine gun mounted on the back of an old military truck.

Group trip to Vegas anyone?

I'd be up for another Vagas trip if it was a wife free stag do type thing....

Driving mad stuff in the desert and not wasting money in casinos makes it more interesting

That said I think the sema show would be worth a visit too...
