Injector Swap

Hi Simon. I'm afriad I've never been one to measure economy, mainly because I don't drive it much and the LC3 doesn't have a fancy computer, so I'd be relying on Mrs C to note the mileage and litres. I started using BP or Shell premium diesel which definitely helped the injector readings, and I'm pretty sure that was helping the economy, but I've never measured it accurately.

Rob,
Thanks, mine is all manual calculation but only getting 22/gal work and back, just wading through ECU data looking for a needle in a haystack, all injectors are within tolerance and quite a few of the other related settings
Will keep looking
Cheers

I've never got better than 23mpg, even when new. Perhaps it's my heavy right foot

Yet another one here who needs to tackle this job, and all credit to @TonyP for pointing me here.

Does anyone happen to have the Bailey PDF, as given in the first post? It's unavailable now on that link.

I may have a copy on my home pc, I'll check later. I did correct the URL a while back, did you try searching on their website? I'll check later when I have some time and see I can fix the link

I'm sat here at home on a break from work, and as I look out of my window I see the snow falling. I then look at my Land Cruiser, just sat there, waiting for the injectors. I'm on the right side of pay day now so I'm now putting the shopping list together.

I've gone on to the commonraildiesels website as posted above, and I'm lucky enough to have a Land Cruiser built in 2006, and the website lists two groups of injectors for cars ending in 2006 and beginning in 2006.

To cross reference the injectors so I buy the right ones, am I better placed to take the intercooler off and check the numbers on the current injectors? Or should I give Toyota a sneaky call and get the part numbers that way?

I think you can tell which end of 2006 you are by looking at the power of your engine. What does your V5 say for max power KW? Probably a plate on the car somewhere too (?)

If its 122 kw, you're in the first half, if its higher you're in the second! If its lower, phone a friend :)

It's handy to know which side of the line you are for other things too, eg oil filters!

That explains why two different oil filters came up!

I've put the order in for the washers and fuel lines with Mr.T, I'll put the parts list here when I get them as I was quoting the parts list @Rob Cowell put together on Page 1 as apparently some of the part numbers have been superceeded. Plus it adds the part number for fuel lines. Mine are definitely original so need doing. Price isn't too bad from Toyota as far as I'm concerned. With all of the parts it's currently £755.87, but he gave me a discount so it's only £699.22 - or 2 tanks of diesel!

Called Common Rail Diesels/Specialist Diesel Ltd (posted above) asking if they had the injectors for mine. Mr.T gave the part number 23670-39296 which is the new one for the car. Bloke on the phone reckons they don't do it, but Googling that part number brings me to their website and on to an injector they have in stock! The headline part number (the title of the post basically) is old, but actually on the page it has the part number listed under "alternative part numbers".

So I'll place the order, worst thing that can happen is that I get a call going "nah mate". Although the chap did say they rebuild them as well, so at the very very worst I can send the old ones in for rebuilding. Especially as Mr.T would like £302.96 for a rebuilt one from them. Each.

Great - please so update us with the info you get - there's always a few people planning to do this job and looking for up to date info!

Bit late now, but Toyodiy is great for this sort of thing. You can search based on your VIN and find all the part numbers it was manufactured with. As noted sometimes you then find parts have been superceded. Searching on Partsouq or Amayama usually throws up the new numbers.

I plan to, as while the Aussie bloke is a great resource its hard to follow the videos and the info he gives sometimes.

That's well handy!

Quick question, as I can't seem to find the name of the part.

The Aussie FourBy4 Dizzle bloke refers to a filter on some of his videos that seem to need replacing, but the cars he gets they never have the right filter. Seems to be a small one and he seems to say that the wrong one he saw in a specific video (which I can't locate) was from a Hilux and not a Land Cruiser. Anyone happen to know what the name of this filter is?

I've got the parts from Toyota this afternoon, the injectors came quick sharp on Saturday morning. The oil is on it's way, the filters are here (air and diesel) as I might as well do a service too. The magic box of tricks from Australia is currently sat at Sydney airport waiting for a lift to the UK, so who knows by Easter weekend I'll be able to crack on with it.

Hmm any idea where the filter lives? Is it something to do with injectors or something else?

The only filters I can think of are oil, air, fuel (under bonnet) & cabin. A filter on the pickup in the fuel tank.

A lot of the Oz cars have 2 fuel tanks and there is an additional filter in between those I think.

Interested to hear what it is though...

This will read like a thick reply, but in the engine? He reckons it's something that should be changed when the injectors are done.

MAP FILTER!

That thing.

eBay doesn't really bring up any of these in the UK, just Australia. So it might be an ADM thing. I'll call Toyota tomorrow and check.(as In, if they have it. I'll check my own car in a moment to see if I have one!)
