Well it's that time....
Next week I am going to get the LC Insured, MOT-ed & Taxed..

Looking around for insurance though has proven to be difficult...
I mean seriously WTF..

I have been driving HGV and PSV for about 12 years, no accidents, no claims, no points... (frantically touching/ knocking on wood..)
Literally have every licence in the book... (A, B, C, D + E behind all that take it..)
Sure I am a shit driver but at least it don't show on my record...

Before she came of the road in Spring I was insured with the NFU mutual for just under or just over £400 a year fully comp with everything you could think of.. ohhhh no I was with Chris Knott by then...
I thought that it was pretty expensive then to be fair.... Because the year before that it was only £287 (just found the papers)

Now they want a whopping £1000..

Most companies want at least £700 or £800...
Thats a joke.....!!!!

The longer you drive these days without any accidents or points the more you have to pay...

Stupid...!

I need the car back on the road because I have booked a show in STONELEIGH PARK on the 23rd and I need to tow my "shop" there + everyone keeps telling me that it is going to snow this month...

oh and the Berlingo is dying on me there is noises (bangs clonks flutters, ticks..) coming out of the engine..

anyway rant over for now...

anyone got a recommendation...

ps the Berlingo is with Chris Knott.. they want silly money too for the LC...

Adrain Flux came through in the end but thats cos i wanted greenlaning etc. I did do a post on all this.
If you are willing to take a high excess then it brings it right down. I managed to get it all reduced by not including commuting for work (£100 off) and made sure they knew i did not use all the seats in the truck which brought it down even more. I did a search on compare the market and then quoted that info to the companies i called as they were hard facts and that also brought the prices down.
Hope this helps

I was talking to an insurance guy I know and he recons insurance prices are going up because they now need to actually make money on the policies. Something to do wither the FSA/Insurance regulator no longer allowing insurance companies to sell the policies on the stock exchange.........

HELP, Adrian Flux has turned down my insurance cover because of four claims in 3 years, I've tried Chris Knott, NFU and 2gether ins and they have said the same, I'm beginning to worry that I won't be able to get cover, has anybody any suggestions (No, not you Chris  )

Admiral is good if you have more than one car.

Insured all my 3 cars, and the cruiser worked out to be about £180, 8 yrs no claims, late 30's. I rekon that was a deal!

Insure in your wife's name with you as a named driver perhaps?

It definitely feels like the insurance companies aren't even bothering with the complimentary vaseline these days...

Chas

Have you asked them under what terms they would insure you?

Better still can you find an older proper insurance broker that you can sit drown with face to face and have him/her speak to the underwriters? Working with don't knows who stare at screens and let database queries decide often ends less well than having someone who has been around for a wee while and understands the ins and outs of the process, and has some contacts that can be called upon. This might end better for you?

If you have not got the answer you want you've not yet found the right person to ask...

That's what I'm doing right now Adrian, I should have an answer later today, but then Adrian Flux are just brokers and they are supossed to be 4x4 specialists. If todays answer is no I'll try to find another broker in my area.

Get a Chauffeur? :auto-swerve:

Only joking Chas, good luck

They are brokers Chas but with respect to them they sound like youngsters. I'm talking about finding someone with maybe 20+ years under their belt if you can. Anyway best of luck.

I used to have a broker like that a few years ago, he was a real diamond, but unfortunately he retired

Sad day today, my 80 has been declared SORN,
crying-022.gif
no-one wants to insure me so it's being laid up for a year until my accident record no longer counts.
A lot of the insurance companies were also a bit frightened by the amount of mods it has, I may remove the intercooler as that was one of the main obstacles,
Still, it gives me a lot of time to tidy things up a bit and perform some more mods, insurance friendly of course ;)
No, no, stop it Chas, haven't you learned yet :naughty:

and using it as a second vehicle did nothing?
