Land Cruiser 80 Outer Shaft / CV

If you want to make it obvious put the handbrake on or if it doesn't work your left foot on the brake and move forwards and in reverse on full lock, if it doesn't click under these conditions then you can relax IMO.

So you are going to mess with the CVs and they aren't clicking???

First before you go and strip one of the front hubs with all that grease in there.
Have your steering adjusted to within Toy spec.
By this I mean the number of steering wheel revolutions from full lock left to full lock right.

Some adjust the full lock angles to have a shorter turning radius and whilst doing this stress the CVs more.

Then find yourself a nice and quiet parking lot.
And do some figure 8s at slow speed with fairly deflated tyres.
If you can hear clicking I would inspect, if not I would leave it at that.

Get some grease in the knuckels, they should be greasy to the touch.
And some new diff fluid in the diffs, thus removing the black smut on that little magnet.

And your good to go.

When the CVs finally start clicking, after a considerable distance travelled.
Jack up the front, remove the 2 CVs, put on you wheels again, apply center diff lock, locate nearest Toy dealer and replace with new OEM CVs, shafts and seals.

These things have engineering heritage, use it!
