This weekend started just great..
Finally got my ring and pinions from lowrange, so started on that today, didn't get very far before i started cussing.. The damn thing wont fit..
Started doing some research and finally found on justdifferentials.com one interesting line on R&P from Nitro
"If you have stock 4.88 gears you will need to swap to a V6 3rd" Written NOWHERE on lowrange..
Well fuck. I have no idea if this is true, i have emailed Lowrange to get to shine some light on the problem, if it turns out true i dont know if i can even use the diff or the R&P in the V6 housing, im guessing i can, but i dont know.. And if i can and get a V6 casing (which is beefier from what i understand) it is $300
Other option could be to get a High pinion front diff as they fit the rear too ( I have one in the rear in the Zook) But if i do, do i still use the reverse-cut that the HP has, or can i use these normal-cut gears for a low-pinion..? Guy that built the zook thought he used the rear R&P (Normal-cut) on the HP when he fitted it to the rear, but as it is 10 years ago he built it he wasn't sure..
I have also read about guys telling not to fit HP in the rear as the oilslinger rotates in the wrong direction, and you get the load on the weaker coast side instead of the drive side, but i cant seem to get a grip on it all with normal-cut gears, if that would even work..
Anyone??
