Having spent most of the last 8 days in bed I havnt got any work done on my truck.
In hindsight I should have gone to Asda and paid the £8 for the winter flu jab, would have been a much nicer Christmas.
Anyway today I felt much better, probably something to do with being out in the fresh air yesterday on a laning trip (trip report to follow

).
The truck got a little bit dirty on the drive back from the farm the other day.
After giving it a wash I got all the wheels off.
Gave the arches a good clean. Still need a passenger side rear one.
It started raining so out came the tarp.
Used some masking tape to mark where I wanted the arches to finish.
On the other side the bumper had been rubbing the arch for a while and so obviously needed trimming.
Masking taped and marked.
Got the front bumper off next.
Held the arch in place with some duck tape, so I could mark where to cut.
Also decided to trim some off the inside.
This is the state of ironman shocks and coils after 2 years and 10,000 miles.
Trimmed the arch.
Expanding foam next.
Other side.
Both done.
Decided the winch deserves a strip down and service. Was only a cheap £150 winch, but in the last 3 years its taken some serious abuse!
I've been stuck a few times in thick gloopy mud and water up to the bonnet and have used the winch fully submersed and still its worked!
Needed to take the steering guard off.
Still loving the laser cut Yota logo.
Winch tray off.
Grill and indicators off next.(note headlights full of mud.

)
The indicators came up quite well after jet washing them inside.
My filthy wet sheep dog.
Got the winch on the bench and took the rope off.
This unbranded £80 synthetic rope has also performed a lot better than I thought it might.
Hoping to get it in the washing machine.
It was this article in last months 4WD Action magazine that inspired me to get mine stripped down and rebuilt.
Surprise surprise MORE Lincomb sand.
Couldnt believe the state the motor was in.
One of the bushes fell apart when being removed from the motor, and the other 2 look in very bad condition. Amazing the winch was still working ok really.
Had a quick search but cant find replacement bushes, so might just get a new winch from Tigerz11 when i get to OZ. Can pick up another 12,000LB winch for a few hundred pounds, and with the places im planning on driving being so remote having a decent reliable winch is important.
Back to the arches.
Cut the excess expanding foam back.
Realised I'd missed the end bits, so stuck some foam in them.
Got the bumper in the garage and trimmed back the bit that had been hitting the wing.
With me having to get the truck on the road soon in OZ, I decided to turn the original side lights back into side lights. Because I dont think I will be able to use my spotlights as side lights as obviously there in the centre of the truck and not at the sides.
This would obviously mean id have to find some where for indicators.
So I've decided to mount indicators into the bumper.
These are what I've bought.
Drilled and screwed the lights in place using self tapping screws.
When they arrived and I connected them to a battery they wernt as bright as i was hoping.

So I will probably replace them with some of these soon:-

Gave all the bare metal a lick of paint.
I tried sourcing a radiator cowl for ages, I even got 2 off Karl but neither of them would fit.
In the end I thought f*** it I will just make one.
I got this piece of 2mm steel bent a few weeks ago, all that needed to be done was to cut and weld 2 strips in.
One side done.
The top will be mounted to the holes in the rad that have got captive nuts on the back.
Cut some tabs and drilled and bolted them in place.
Decided to cut a bit out around where the top rad hose will be to give it a bit more clearance.
Tack welded the tabs in place.
Got it fully welded and cut for the hose.
Cut, drilled and bent some steel for lower brackets.
Welded in place.
I've ordered a 16" electric fan that will be mounted in the middle of the rad cowl.
Once that arrives I can mark around it and jig saw the centre out.
Back to the arches.
In the bowl is the fibreglass resin and the white stuff in the middle of it is the catalyst about to be mixed in.
Got one layer of matting on the backs of each arch, this was wrapped down and onto the front face.
The arches are going to need some more resin and matting. Then they will get filled, sanded down and sprayed.
Then they will be stuck in place using Stikaflex or Tiger seal.
I'm keen to crack on with all the dinitroling but want to give it a week to fully dry out after todays blast with the pressure washer. I dont want to seal any moisture in when I dinitrol.
With my flight now booked I need to get everything sorted on my truck ASAP, then I can pack all the workshop up and get everything in boxes ready to go in the container.
Still need to do a load of electrics, finish re-building the interior, and maybe re-spray the sides of the truck and possibly the roof.
