Thanks mate.

Just been and bought a car.

Hopefully I've bought a good one.

I would have liked to have had more money and time. :?

But needed to get one ready to get to where the job is on Wednesday. Bought it from a dealer and paid for a full 12 month warranty. So if anything should go wrong it will get fixed.
Its getting tested today for the road worthy certificate, and I pick it up tomorrow afternoon. :icon-biggrin:

Drove nice when I test drove it. Gone for a Holden (Vauxhall) Astra. Being a 1.6 it should be good on fuel. A lot of the cars over here are like 4litre V8's, and even though petrol is £1 per litre I didnt want something so big and thirsty.

Hopefully its only a short term solution until I get my truck on the road.

There was a beautiful, black 3 door Patrol there but it was way out of my price range.

Need to go and register for medicare now, encase I need a doctor/hospital. :icon-smile:

Hi Ben,

Great to hear you are moving forward.
You seem to have all the ability, and I wish this job on Wednesday turns out OK for you.
Is it a "stop gap" until some thing else turns up?

What is it you will be doing, workwise?

Gra.

Why are you taking so long getting sorted out dude!?!

Good to hear its all coming together

Thanks Gra.

Yeah I'm really hoping I get it.

The fact it comes with accommodation will be very handy. :icon-smile:

Its working on an equestrian farm building horse jumps and general farm stuff.

It might not be what I pictured myself doing but its something different and I think I might really enjoy it. So although its technically a stopgap job, I could see myself being there for a few years. :icon-cool:

Nothing at all to do with all the young horsey girls in jodhpurs and riding boots! :eusa-liar:

After I've lived and worked in Victoria for 2 years I'm free to live and work anyway, so thats when I'm hoping to go and work in the mines and earn some big money. :icon-biggrin:

Gav its all the beautiful weather and ice cold beer! :icon-cool:

Think the build thread might be slowing down a bit when I get my 70 back!

I wonder where she is now?

The Northern Javelin was due to sail from Felixstowe on the the 2/2/13.

Went into a big camping shop today and spent an hour wondering round looking at everything. I want a 32litre Engel fridge! :icon-biggrin:

If I'd have stayed with the girl I was with we may have brought a place /shack out there Graham.

I meant get over Oz and have a look around at some point.

If you're doing farm work, fencing can be good money, especially if you get a reputation for good work. Just watch out, Ironbark and White Mahogony is bloody heavy! About 1.6x the density of water... so bloody heavy when you've got to move 8' posts... remember to put at least a 1/3 in the ground.

We had to move 8x8' Ironbark fence posts on one property; we were given their ex-mines Double Cab Hi Lux to pick them up; I'd checked what the payload was before we left, and asked at the timber yard how heavy each post was. I could only take 6 before it was over loaded!

I worked on an ag property that had horses... yep some of the girls defo made it easier! Worked with Trekkers in the UK as well; they had a filthy reputation... beware of the :clap::clap:! Makes sure you get a King Single Swag; there's enough room to entice them in, but it's a snug fit... Roman Swag's are a bit wider than the Dune ones from Anaconda, we've got one of each back here with us.

Just a little bit of aussie education ... most are 5 - 6 litre v8s ;)

Actually most Commode's and Foulcan's are 3.6-ish 6's, with a few V8's. Ford haven't done a V8 (other than as the FPV) for a couple of years, and Holden still do one (reluctantly I think) in both Holden and HSV flavours. The Ford XR6 Turbo is as powerful as the V8 IIRC.

yes, most are 6's. but just pointing out that when they are v8's they are over 5 litres :)

Unless you getting the V8 70 series... in which case 4.5.

Got a couple of friends over there with V8's; both in Commodes, one has a wagon, the other (his wife's car) a saloon. She's as big a hooligan as he is though.

I'm always tempted with one of the last Falcon Panel Vans which you could get with a V8 engine, but as my brother kindly said, you look a bit like a murderer in one!

Definitely wanted to try and avoid buying a car with such a big thirsty engine. :icon-cool:

A little bit closer to getting to me then.

It wont work for me, keeps saying vessel not in range.

I'll check now and then and keep you posted Ben. Approaching Gibraltar at the mo.
