LJ70 front diff

as title, i need an LJ70 front diff/axle.

need this pretty quick, and willing to drive any where to collect. cash waiting.

Ben no chance it's the same as an 80 I suppose - I have two of those

are the diffs intact, or are the ring and pinion's separate?

im up your way tomorrow, so i could call in and see if 80's are the same? thats if your home about 2pm?

any idea what ratio they are?

Ben they are perfect complete diffs. Front and rear sets in 4.1

I think it would be pure luck if they were compatible to be fair but thought I'd let you know. I am in Sunday sort of. I'm off roading near by. The front on an 80 is a locker so probably not a goer. They have a different profile I think

im a bit confused as to whether not

A. the earlier pre face lifted 70's are the same ratio as the later models.

B. whether the actual ring and pinion's are the same.

they changed the axle casings on the later models and the suspension geometry. the shocks dont mount inside the springs on the earlier ones, and the radius and trailing arms mount differently. so if they changed those things, they could easily have changed something internally.

Thanks Chris, but i need 4.8 ratio, so dont think yours are any use to me.

Im hoping to pick up a complete axle from Karl today, only issue is its off an earlier pre face lifted 70 and i really dont/wont know if the ring and pinion will be any use till i strip it all down.
