That's a shame to see a 70 in this condition Shaun.. but really good to see that you are making good for it.

When they're in this condition, would you consider lifting the body off the chassis cause it will make the exercise considerably easier? Not too much effort over great gain! Look forward in seeing your progress!!

Mirroring iwan’s comments, its really sad to see trucks left to rot.

Still, this is one of the lucky ones, caught just in time by the looks of it.
A lot of work ahead, but when you see what can be done, such as @Ben has proven, you can make a “new” truck of this...

As Iwan suggested, taking the body off will make things a lot easier. The soft top body I picked up for my LJ70 turned out to be quite rotten sadly, but after lots of work its almost fully repaired now and ready for paint.

Building a simple rotisserie has proven to be a god send, it has made the job so much easier being able to rotate the body 360 degrees and not having to work overhead and in particular weld, overhead.

You mean missing all the fun of red-hot gobs of burning rust fizzing around in your hair, Ben?

I was thinking of taking the body off Ben, but ive given it a body lift instead which has helped with the body repairs in some places. so I just lift the corner I'm working on if needed.
The welding is mostly round the edges so most of doesn't mean I get showered in red hot rust that finds its way everywhere.

My plan is to fit the earlier round headlamp front and remove the 2.4 lump which is sold.
Inner and outer wings are too far gone and prefer the older style on this one.

The plan is to remove the 3.0 from this old Colorado which has had a mechanical fuel pump conversion which makes my life a lot easier.

It’s had a heavy rear shunt and even the rear axle is bent.

Out she comes !
Gave it a steam clean and changed the sump for a surf one as it’s back to front on a Colorado.

A little update as I’ve not had time to update on here... too many projects

Engine now out of the LJ.

The bell housing was also swapped for the one off the Colorado

Also painted front wings which are the round head lamp ones.
Had brush painted them but realised it wasn’t a good idea so removed the paint

After the brush on paint was removed and surface was prepped I used Aerosol high build primer.

Then applied the top coat, I used satin black aerosol... I plan to use this on the whole truck.

Looks good shaun, the truck will look awesome when its finished. How much more to go?
