I'm looking at getting a new set of locking wheel nuts of the "tapered" variety for some new wheels I have. ;) (I aready have a set of "flat" locking wheel nuts for the OEM Colorado alloys ).

I'd appreciate some recommendations and would like to keep to 21mm nut size* so that the normal wheel nuts and locking nut are all the same and I don't have to carry too many sockets around.

* I've seen 17mm and 19mm tapered locking wheel nut sets on eBay but not any 21mm.

Thanks in advance as usual. :)

I got mine from Toyota at a cost of £24 for a set of 4.

Very happy with that.

I got McGard ones from Halfords - they were £15 a set of 5  The others in the range were nearly £40...

I threw mine in the bin. Nothing but a damn nuisance.

I think locking wheel nuts are a waste of money, a while ago I [strike:2wqii762]lost[/strike:2wqii762] misplaced the 'key' and went to a local garage to get them removed and when I saw just how easy it was I thought why bother. They just used a cordless drill with a socket that had an inside thread like a broken bolt remover but the other way round if you see what I mean. I think you can buy those removal sockets from Halfrauds  so a cordless drill, the correct socket set and you have your removal kit, don't you think the tea leaves are already onto this?

In Africa all the little time wasting deterrents you have the better. If I was to stay in the UK then yes they would be a waste of time for me too.

H'mmm, I know what you mean about a waste of time; about 10 years ago (my pre-LC days ;) ) I had an Vauxhall Omega Elite with the "MV6" wheels. One day I woke up to find it on bricks! :x The wheel nuts, including the locking nut where neatly piled at each corner!

Still I think it can be a visual deterrent is some cases.....

Cheers Gav - I might pop down to Halfrauds this weekend.
