Good Morning
I've been an occasional lurker on here for a bit.
Having bought an old RIB, i need something more than my Merc Sprinter to tow it with and after having done some research I settled on a LC.
After trawling the internet for some time I found a 'bargain' 100 series that looked very good in the photo's and was, the garage assured me, the best I'd find for the money.
Armed with a one way plane ticket to Bradford and my nine year old son, who was coming along for the adventure, I set off for the garage.
The condition of the car was a bit underwhelming but I had committed myself with no plan as to what I'd do if I didn't buy it.
The drive back down south was OK if you exclude the engine management light coming on! Within days the air suspension developed a mind of its own and a look underneath revealed a lot of rust and frilly body panels - i'd bought a pup.
Changing one of the level sensors seemed to stabilise the suspension in the middle position.
Anyway I drove 15,000 miles in 14 months and sold it to Webuyanycar.com for £1000 less than I'd paid for it. In that time I put new tyres on it and paid £170 to get it through its MOT so it was actually quite cheap motoring but it was also a lesson.
I'm now on the lookout for a '92 - '95 12 valve automatic UK spec with a budget up to £7k. The 80 buyers guide on here should prove useful and i look forward to finding my new truck in the not too distant future.
Cheers
Guy
