Hey guys. New to this forum, and very new to land cruiser. I've been a 4runner guy for the last 4 or 5 years and I'd like to move on to something a little different. I've decided on a BJ60 cruiser, but they're becoming increasingly difficult to find in decent condition, especially here on the west coast of Canada. I've found a couple prospects, but I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some extra details of what to look for, specific problem areas of rust on the frames ect ect...

Those are my current prospects. As for the '83, it looks too rusty to even consider. I'm just hoping for a little extra insight from some people who know much more about these than I do. Thanks.

Hi J wilson and welcome. Are you in Vancouver, my Bro lives there and he's a truck mechanic so may be able to help you if you need it.
I've had as few of these 60's from an 81 4 speeder right to the last one registered in the UK ( May 90). Ive has autos, manuals, after market turbos factory turbos, petrols, pretty much the lot. From what you have put in front of us I'd have the 6 cyl one above the 2 others with the 4 cyl engine purely on the basis that the 4 cyl engine would be far more tedious on any kind of journey. I'd budget $2-2.5K for bodyshop repairs and you should have a pretty tidy 60 at not a fortune. I must admit I've only driven one Cruiser with the 3B engine ( a 40 series) and a few miles driving that cured me of ever wanting a 3B engined anything.
I'm hoping to get back to driving a 60 series again, my favourite is the 61 auto but they are rare.

hope this has been of help.

Andy
